Always On

May 26, 2021 | Mindset, Performance Management

I just got back from a mini-vacation. It was the first time our family had been together in a very long time, and such a joyous event!

Try as I may, I have been afflicted with the same “always on” work mentality as so many of my readers. While working from home has had some advantages, the constant “on” is not one of them. If you contacted me during my two days of vacation, you would have received an email that said:

I will be celebrating my daughter’s graduation from Tulane this weekend. Scold me if I respond to your email as I will be surrounded by family and friends and I should savor every minute.

I will be back in the office on Monday, May 24 and I will respond with pleasure then.

This auto responder, along with telling all my clients ahead of time, worked for me. What will work for you?
