Happy Holidays 2024

Dec 23, 2024 | Mindset

When I see this picture, I can smell the oil frying. May you find special moments to smile during this holiday season. Wishing you all that is merry, bright, and delicious!

Yes, the ugly yellow bowl is for real. It was my Great Aunt Fagie’s. She gave it to my mom and my mother loved that I still use it. It’s glass and it is probably 100 years old.

The tall handsome guy beside me is my husband Bill. We have been making latkes together for a long time. I have no idea where his apron came from but he likes it. He does the shopping, I do the peeling and mixing and he has the patience to stand there and make them golden brown. When I used to make them by myself I burned them.

My apron says, “For this I spent 4 years at Virginia” (meaning University of Virginia). I bought it at Mincer’s book store in Charlottesville for myself the week I graduated and I have cooked in it and loved it ever since. Fortunately, it has held up well.

This picture was taken a few years ago and we were having guests. We love entertaining friends during the holidays.
